The Gilberd is a comprehensive school established in new buildings in 1980,
on a large pleasant site on the NE outskirts of Colchester, receiving a yearly intake of
approximately 248 students, mainly from neighbouring primary schools. The campus is one of the focal
points for the developing community near the school, with its excellent sporting and other
facilities being increasingly utilised by the community.
